Touch the Divine

The Mystery of the Creative Work

Perhaps there is a kind of inspiration, which comes from still higher Sources (or within), to create something that is needed to meet a crisis in the world. This is a direct impression of the message sent in a way that the craftsman can receive and express it without losing its voltage. A creative worker is one who is open to Higher Worlds. By his creativity he learns about the mystery of his true being.

Is it fair, then, to collapse the mystery of inspiration into something rational, instrumental, logical, systematic, and explained? When an idea hits our higher mental plane and impresses it, it turns into a vision that evokes striving in us. If we follow our vision, we will contact the idea behind it and, behind the idea, the Plan. If we continue to expand our consciousness through contemplating on the Plan, we will eventually contact the Purpose. Each higher contact with inspiration will make us a more creative person.

The mystery of inspiration is fiery. Maybe that’s the secret of keepers of the flame, those who have tapped into something divine: the artist that can give and give without being diminished. The light seems to come not from them, not from something finite, but rather somewhere infinite.

Inspiration is a mystery in front of us.
